What is text-to-speech for real estate websites?
Most real estate AI works behind the scenes for agents. This puts AI on the front end, for the buyers and sellers who visit your website, and runs like marketing automation for you. AI voice narration (text-to-speech) adds a Listen button to a real estate website’s featured listings and blog posts. Visitors tap it and hear the written description or article read aloud by a natural-sounding AI voice, right on the page. On Virtual Results agent websites it’s an optional add-on, expected to cost $25–$50 a month, and the audio updates itself two hours after you edit.
Questions, answered.
For agents and brokers
How much does it cost?
It’s expected to run roughly $25–$50 a month, depending on your listing volume. Your account team confirms your exact pricing before anything gets turned on. No enterprise contract, no six-month sales process.
How do I turn it on?
- Contact your Virtual Results account team to confirm your site is ready and lock in pricing.
- After your account team activates narration for your site, toggle “Activate” on the voice narration option in your website settings. The option won’t appear there until then.
- Qualifying listings and blog posts get narrated automatically.
- Take a listen on desktop and mobile so you know exactly what your clients hear.
Do I have to record anything?
Not a word. No microphone, no voice talent, no files to upload. The system handles it in the background.
Which pages get narrated?
Your Active featured and exclusive listings, plus your blog posts. Have a custom setup in mind? Talk to your account team. Custom is kind of our whole thing.
What happens when I edit a listing or post?
An edit starts a two-hour timer, and any new edit restarts it. Once two hours pass with no edits, fresh audio generates. Visitors hear the previous version during that window, so give big changes like a price drop a couple of hours before you push clients to the page.
Will it slow down my website?
No. The audio loads separately from your pages, so your caching keeps doing its job.
How can it be this affordable?
Content fingerprinting (the same text is never narrated twice), our own hardware instead of rented cloud servers, and a small team that built this with help from recent AI coding tools, including OpenAI’s Codex. The more agents who use it, the more efficient the system gets for everyone.
What if the voice mispronounces a street name?
It can happen with tricky local names. After your narration generates, play the first 30 seconds of any listing with an unusual address. If something sounds wrong, tell your account team and we’ll take a look.
Does this make my site ADA or WCAG compliant?
No, and anyone who tells you one feature does that is selling something. Narration adds another accessible way to experience your content. Full accessibility depends on your whole site.
Can I turn it off?
Anytime. Your content and headings stay exactly as they are, and you can turn it back on whenever you want.
How do I tell my clients?
One line does it: “Short on time? Tap Listen on any featured listing and hear the details on the go.” Better yet, pull up a listing during your next listing appointment or buyer consultation and hit play.
For buyers and sellers
What is the Listen button?
It reads the page out loud. Tap Listen and you’ll hear the property description or blog post. A progress timeline appears once it starts, and you can pause whenever you want.
Is that a real person reading?
No. It’s an AI-generated voice that reads exactly what’s written on the page. It doesn’t add opinions, sales pitches, or extra details.
Does it cost me anything?
No. Listening is free. No app, no extra download. Free account signup may be required.
Why doesn’t every listing have a Listen button?
Narration covers the website’s Active featured and exclusive listings, plus their blog posts. General search results might not include it.
Is the audio always up to date?
After an edit, the system waits two hours before creating fresh audio, so right after a change like a price update you might hear the earlier version. The written page is always the source of truth.
Does it replace my screen reader?
No. Screen readers do much more, like navigating menus and describing images. The Listen button reads the main content of a listing or post and works alongside the tools you already use.
