The following applies to GroundTruth Layer, the Real-Time MLS Data Platform Built as a Primary Data Layer. Learn more by visiting GroundTruth Layer.
MLS Data Handling & Customer Relationship
We operate the platform as a technical subcontractor and data processor acting on behalf of our customers. MLS data is processed at the customer’s direction, using the customer’s authorized MLS access, and solely for the customer’s permitted use cases.
We do not claim independent rights to MLS data, do not license MLS data, and do not act as an MLS participant, broker, agent, or data distributor. The platform exists to support customers who already have MLS authorization by providing the technical infrastructure required to store, query, and work with MLS data in production systems.
In this model, MLS data remains the customer’s data, governed by the customer’s direct relationship with the MLS. The platform functions as a managed technical environment—similar to a hosting or data infrastructure partner—while the customer retains ownership of access rights, usage decisions, and compliance obligations.
How Compliance Is Handled
The platform is designed to faithfully implement documented MLS data-handling requirements where those requirements are written, known, and technically enforceable at the data layer. This includes update frequency, data freshness, removals, retention limits, and attribution fields.
MLS compliance also includes requirements that depend on how data is presented and used within customer applications. Display rules, disclaimers, branding, logo placement, advertising usage, end-user access controls, and downstream redistribution are implemented by customers and remain outside the platform’s direct control.
Accordingly, customers remain responsible to the MLS for all compliance obligations arising from their use of MLS data, while the platform operates as a technical subcontractor supporting those obligations.
