Welcome to another installment of “Developing in Public,” where we take you behind the scenes of our work at Virtual Results. As a website development and online marketing firm dedicated to empowering real estate professionals, we constantly seek ways to enhance our clients’ marketing strategies.

Fixing a Bug in Our IDX Property Search Interface

Recently, we discovered and fixed an interesting bug while developing a new IDX property search interface for Richmond Realtor James Strum’s soon-to-be-launched local real estate portal, The Strum Group. The issue affected our integration with Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service (CVRMLS).

Listing images weren’t always provided in the order they should display on the listings. As a former real estate agent, Ryan Rockwood became suspicious when some of the featured listing photos were – shall we say – unusual. After identifying the problem, our team promptly resolved it to ensure that the property images are displayed correctly, enhancing the overall user experience on the search interface.

Implementing Captchas to Combat Form Spam

Spam is a pervasive issue not just in email but also in web forms. Form spam, where automated bots submit fake or malicious entries through website forms, can flood your site with irrelevant or harmful content, consuming valuable resources and skewing your data.

At Virtual Results, we protect our members from millions of spam entries annually. To further safeguard our clients, we have decided to include visible captchas by default on our web forms to cut down on the tens of thousands of spammers who daily try to consume our members’ resources and attention. Captchas are effective at distinguishing human users from bots, thus preventing automated spam entries.

Implementing captchas is just one part of our ongoing efforts to enhance security and user experience for our clients. Our members will always have the option to opt in or out of displaying captchas on their websites.

Resolving an Issue with Triangle MLS

An issue with Triangle MLS in North Carolina recently came to our attention. Our programmers have been hard at work double-checking and resyncing our records to ensure our members always have the most current listing and market data available.

We identified and fixed the issue, resyncing the entire MLS. Going forward, we anticipate faster and more reliable updates than ever before, ensuring our clients can trust the data they receive and provide to their customers.

Conclusion

At Virtual Results, we are committed to continuous improvement and ensuring the highest quality of service for our clients. Whether it’s fixing bugs, enhancing security measures, or ensuring data accuracy, we are always striving to provide the best possible tools and support for real estate professionals.
